Giacomo Puccini was an Italian composer and representative of Verism in his musical work. He was born on 22 December 1858 and came from a family of musicians. His father was the leader of the Lucca town band and his grandfather and great-grandfather were already involved in music. In the autumn of 1880 he went to Milan, where he was able to enrol at the local conservatory thanks to a scholarship. With his compositions for example Manon Lescaut or La Bohème he created pieces for eternity.
